London has had my heart for years. From my first time there during summer camps when I was 13-14, to the times when I used to live in Paris and visited my best friend in London monthly, I can’t get enough of this city. Now that my sister is in university in Brighton, our love affair continues.
Here are some of my favorite places in London, something a bit different than what you might see on tourist guide books. Enjoy and bon apetit!
- Firmdale Hotels: A hotel group in London and New York. They have multiple hotels in London in different neighborhoods and each one has a unique design. I have stayed in Knightsbridge, Number 16 AND The Soho Hotel (where I had breakfast next to Chuck Bass and nearly had a heart attack…)
- Columbia Road Flower Market: I strongly recommend a stroll here on a Sunday when the weather is nice. Perfect for Instagram photos*wink* Continue walking around Shoreditch and grab a bite at Albion.
- Hummingbird Bakery: This bakery that has several shops around London makes the best red velvet and black bottom cupcakes you will ever taste. When I was living in London for a month, I got a black bottom from the Soho location every-single-day. It got to a point where the cashier knew me and shouted “1 black bottom coming right up!” as soon as he saw me. Pretty embarrassing, but I don’t regret it one bit.
- NAC: Very cute and enjoyable restaurant, salads are pretty delicious. Drinking wine on the terrace is extra nice.
- John Bell & Croyden: A pharmacy with a calm environment where you can browse in peace the best (and difficult to find) brands without getting disturbed.
- Nordic Bakery: Cinnamon Bun. That’s all I’ve got to say.
- Good Life Eatery: Fast, healthy food. From acai bowls to zucchini noodles, it’s tough to be this tasty and healthy at the same time. Also one of the rare places that make actually good coffee with almond milk. For another one: C Press
- Saatchi Gallery & Kings Road: Saatchi is a modern art gallery that feature less known artists and more out there pieces where you won’t see anywhere else. I think it’s fun to see even if you’re not interested in art. Kings Road (where the gallery is on) is a street famous for it’s shops from big luxury brands to little boutiques.
- Borough Market & Monmouth Coffee: The best food market in London. Perfect for a lunch when you’re ready to eat until you get a food coma. If you’re a chocoholic like me, try the massive brownie from Oliver’s Bakery. Absolutely unique. Then have a coffee at Monmouth, where they have the best coffee beans in London. (In fact separate the group in to two, one group should go get the brownies while the others wait in line for the coffees.)

- Koya: If you like Japanese noodles you must have udon here. If you’ve never tried it, you should try it here.
